WorkPulse keeps active work and breaks as separate sessions so worked time, activity, screenshots and reports describe the correct part of the day.
Activity timing
The desktop tracker normally sends an activity capture every ten minutes. Activity is calculated from ten one-minute slots anchored to the real capture start time. The capture end is exclusive, so the same minute is never counted in two captures.
Screenshot timing
Without the Two-Minute Screenshots entitlement, a normal desktop capture includes the screenshot taken for that activity interval. When the company has Two-Minute Screenshots, Desktop v5.0.14 or newer takes and uploads screenshots approximately every two minutes while work is running. Each image appears in Screenshot Storyboard independently of the normal ten-minute activity upload and keeps its original capture time. This does not create extra work sessions or change the ten-minute activity calculation. If the computer is temporarily offline, the screenshot is queued and retried with the same identity so it is not duplicated.
Starting and ending a break
- Choose Break in the tracking client.
- WorkPulse closes the current work session and starts a separate Break session at the same time.
- Keyboard, mouse and screenshot activity is not accepted as work while the Break session is active.
- Choose Resume to close the Break session and start a new work session.
- The previous project is restored when it is still available to the employee's team.
How reports calculate the day
Worked time and overall activity use work sessions only. Break duration remains visible as separate context but is not part of active work, payroll work intervals or team-package work usage. Interactive reports recalculate historical desktop activity when the original event times are loaded.
Verify a session
- Open Time Worked and select the employee and date.
- Confirm work ends where Break begins and resumes where Break ends.
- For Two-Minute Screenshots, open Screenshot Storyboard and use Refresh screenshots. Confirm the first image can appear before the first ten-minute activity interval.
- Confirm screenshots show their actual capture times while activity remains grouped into ten-minute intervals.
- Compare worked time and break time with the tracker.
- If screenshots are missing, confirm the feature entitlement, Desktop v5.0.14 or newer, network connection and that work—not Break—was running.
